Here are some of the dental emergencies and how best to handle them:

  • A toothache or sensitivity is usually bearable but should not be ignored. See your dentist at your earliest convenience or call report your symptoms.

You can take an over the counter pain medication such as Advil, Tylenol. Do not place any other source of heat against the area under pain.

  • A chipped or broken tooth can frequently be saved with a simple filling and possibly with a root canal.
  • For adult (or permanent) teeth, rinse the tooth and try to place it back in its position or put the tooth in a container (immersed in cold milk) and please see a dentist within 30 minutes.

    The tooth could be re-implanted.

  • Use a clean cloth to press down on the bleeding. If it does not stop please go to the ER. Ice can be used to prevent swelling.
  • These are small sores in the mouth caused by stress, irritation or diet.

Gel type over the counter medication maybe used to help with the pain.

They generally last 7 – 10 days. If symptoms continue for more than 2 weeks, please see call us to book an appointment.

  • In case a filling is lost, try to keep the area as clean as possible.

It is advisable to avoid foods with extreme temperatures (not too cold or not too hot).

Please note that if the lost filling is large, symptoms maybe more severe. Please see call us to book an appointment

  • In case of a cracked denture, please try to save all the pieces for repair and book an appointment with us soon.
